| 2/6/2008 Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale to begin rehearsals of Carmina Burana Due to the snow on February 5, Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, February 12, for their 2008 season. This year's masterpiece is Carl Orff's exhuberant, colorful Carmina Burana, a 20th century composition that features singable melodies with dynamic rhythms for adult chorus, large orchestra, soloists and a childrens chorus. The work is a favorite of performers and audiences alike, according to Director Richard Severing. The Chorale invites all adult area singers to join them--auditions are not required. Registration of singers and an welcoming social will begin at 6:30 PM in the choir room at Elkhorn Area High School. Rehearsal will follow from 7-9 PM. Music scores will be provided. Weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings will culminate in the Chorale's concert Friday, May 2, in the high school's James R. Wehner Auditorium.
